The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed receiving a petition against Hajiya Sa’adatu Yusha’u, Chairperson of ALGON in the state and Executive Chairman of Tudun Wada Local Government, but says it has not initiated any investigation against her.

This comes after media reports alleged that the Assembly had begun probing Yusha’u over alleged land allocation mismanagement.

In a statement signed by Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, the Assembly described the reports as “unfounded, misleading, and entirely false.”

“The attention of the Kano State House of Assembly has been drawn to circulating reports suggesting that the Assembly has concluded arrangements to investigate Hajiya Sa’adatu Yusha’u,” the statement read. “The Assembly categorically states that such reports are unfounded, misleading, and entirely false.”

Shawai noted that the Majority Leader, Hon. Lawan Hussain Dala, did not grant any interview or make any public statement suggesting that an investigation was underway.

“As a duly elected Honourable Member of the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawal Hussain Dala exercises his constitutional duty to receive and present petitions from citizens,” the statement added. “The receipt of a petition by him does not in any way constitute an endorsement of investigation, nor does it amount to a legislative decision or pronouncement.”

The Assembly said the reports misrepresented its internal processes.

“It is unacceptable to single out any individual or propagate baseless claims without evidence or official confirmation,” Shawai added.

He stressed that receiving petitions is part of the House’s constitutional mandate and must not be mistaken for an investigation.

“These procedures are anchored in transparency and guided by the rule of law,” he said.

The Assembly has demanded a retraction and public apology from those who published the claims.

“All media platforms and individuals responsible for disseminating this false narrative must issue an unreserved apology and withdraw the fabricated story within seven (7) days,” the statement warned. “Failure to comply may result in legal action for malicious publication aimed at defaming public office holders andmisleading the public.”
