Sevilla manager Matías Almeyda has named a 25-man squad for their pre-season trip to Germany for Saturday’s friendly against Schalke 04.

Interestingly, the Nigerian trio of Kelechi Iheanacho, Chidera Ejuke, and Akor Adams are all included in the travelling party.

Iheanacho, who joined the La Liga side last summer from Leicester City on a free transfer, had been rumoured to be out of favour following a disappointing debut campaign.

Iheanacho Leaves Sevilla On Loan

The 28-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Middlesbrough and was recently sidelined with a stomach issue that kept him out of the Spanish club’s friendly defeat to Birmingham City.

However, his return to full training and inclusion in the squad suggests he could yet have a role to play under Almeyda’s revamped setup. Still, reports linking Iheanacho with a move away from Sevilla remain consistent.

Adams Gets Sevilla Green Light

Fellow Nigerian forward Akor Adams has also been given the green light to travel after recovering from a lengthy injury layoff.

The former Montpellier striker, who arrived in January, is widely tipped to spearhead Sevilla’s new-look frontline as the club embraces a high-octane attacking style this summer.

What Is Ejuke’s Fate At Sevilla?

Meanwhile, Chidera Ejuke, who is set to embrace a new role at Sevilla, will be looking to make an impression after a mixed debut campaign.

Signed on a free after his contract with CSKA Moscow ended, the winger struggled with injuries and form, most notably picking up a knock in a clash against Barcelona.

Despite this, his involvement in pre-season has been more consistent than his compatriots, indicating that Almeyda still sees value in the 26-year-old’s creativity.

Sevilla Prepares For Hot New Season Campaign

The La Liga club’s rebuild has seen the team adopt a fluid, aggressive attacking approach, with full-backs pushing high and rapid switches across the flanks becoming a hallmark of their style.

Results have been varied — one win, one loss, and one draw — but the squad’s structure suggests the Argentine manager is focused on establishing a cohesive, offensive-minded unit.

Also recalled for the German tour are Juanlu and Lucien Agoumé, both of whom missed the Sunderland draw. Alfon, Isaac, Rafa Romero, and Collado are among those left out due to injury or tactical reshuffling.

The former Europa League champions face Schalke on Saturday, July 26, at 17:00 CET, with fans eager to see how Almeyda’s men, including the club’s Nigerian import, fare against German opposition.
