A wave of defections has hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, as a large number of members in Damagum, Fune Local Government Area, the hometown of PDP National Chairman Umar Illiya Damagum, have joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The defectors, drawn from across all 17 local government areas of the state, were formally received into the ADC with membership cards issued to them at a ceremony held in Damagum.

Speaking at the event, leader of the ADC coalition in Yobe, Adamu Waziri, welcomed the new entrants while expressing concern over the state of the nation.

He noted that several industries had collapsed in the past year, further plunging the country into economic hardship.
