Senate begins screening of Christopher Musa

The Senate has commenced the screening process for President Bola Tinubu’s nominee for Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read President Tinubu’s nomination letter during Tuesday’s plenary, after which he announced that the screening would begin immediately.

To facilitate the process, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele moved a motion to suspend relevant rules on floor privileges, allowing Musa, the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Lado, as well as officials of the Ministry of Defence and accompanying military officers to enter the chamber.

Bamidele added that the substantive screening session would be conducted behind closed doors, following brief introductory remarks from the nominee.
