The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, for the 2026 Ekiti State election, Dare Bejide has declared that victory is assured, insisting the party’s ticket “is in God’s hands” and no earthly power can alter divine will.
Speaking yesterday at the party’s state secretariat in Ado-Ekiti shortly after returning from Abuja, Bejide received a rousing welcome from hundreds of supporters who thronged the venue despite a recent violent attack on the premises.
He described the gathering not as a campaign rally but as a thanksgiving event to appreciate how far the party had come.
“This is a positive beginning towards 2026,” Bejide told the cheering crowd. “We must remain steadfast. What happened here recently is a temporary setback; it will not define us.”
The secretariat had weeks earlier been invaded in an incident Bejide labelled “politically motivated.”
He confirmed that the matter had been formally reported to authorities in Abuja and expressed confidence in ongoing investigations.
State Chairman Pastor Kola Omolayo praised members for demonstrating courage by attending the large turnout despite lingering tensions.
“ADC is built on love and mutual respect,” he said, calling for unity ahead of the election.
Prominent party stalwarts, including former Commissioner for Information Barr. Akin Omole, Hon. Femi Adegbite, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, and Hon. Dare Adekolu, all pledged unwavering support for Bejide’s candidature.
They urged members to close ranks and intensify grassroots mobilisation.
Bejide used the occasion to highlight national challenges such as insecurity and unemployment, which he attributed to prolonged leadership failures.
He promised that an ADC government in Ekiti would prioritise skills acquisition programmes and agricultural revitalisation to empower citizens and boost the state’s economy.
“We have a lot to do, and we are determined to achieve it,” he declared.
Party leaders say internal disagreements that recently threatened the ADC’s cohesion have now been substantially resolved, with structures being strengthened at ward, local government, and state levels.
As the renewed optimism within its ranks, the African Democratic Congress insists it is well positioned to mount a serious challenge in the 2026 Ekiti governorship race, traditionally dominated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
