Nasboi: I’d choose money over fame

Popular Nigerian comedian-turned-musician Nasboi has shared his regrets about choosing fame over wealth and says he would make a different choice if given another chance in life.

The entertainer disclosed this on Sunday in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he also hinted at his desire to retire from the entertainment industry due to the pressure that comes with celebrity life.

According to Nasboi, the stress associated with maintaining fame has overshadowed its benefits, prompting him to prioritize financial stability over public recognition moving forward.

“I will choose to have money over being famous. I no fit try this kind of thing for my next life again,” he wrote.

He further revealed that he plans to step away from music, skit-making and acting once he achieves his financial goal of ₦5 billion.

“Once my money completes 5 billion, I don disembark. I no do again. No skit, no music, and no acting. Make the brain rest,” Nasboi added.

Nasboi, known for his viral comedic impressions and recent breakthrough in music, has gained widespread popularity in Nigeria’s entertainment scene. 

His latest remarks have sparked conversations among fans about the challenges of fame and the growing trend of celebrities prioritising mental health and long-term financial security.
