Abubakar Yakubu, the newly elected President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has reportedly been arrested following a tragic car accident in Surulere, Lagos.

Yakubu clinched the AGN presidency in a closely contested election, defeating veteran actress Rita Daniels with 116 votes to 113, while three ballots were declared invalid.

His victory marked a historic milestone as he became the first Northern Nigerian to head the Guild since its formal registration in 1998.
