Disgraced Ex-NHIS Boss Yusuf Shamed as Court Sends Him to Kuje Prison Over Five Counts of Fraud

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Usman Yusuf, former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), in Kuje Correctional Centre.

Yusuf faces five charges of fraud brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The charges, which include allegations of misappropriation and abuse of office, stem from Yusuf’s tenure as NHIS boss. The EFCC accused him of diverting public funds for personal gain, amounting to millions of naira.

Despite the allegations, Yusuf has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, pleading not guilty to all charges.

However, Justice X, presiding over the case, ruled that Yusuf be remanded in Kuje Prison pending the determination of his bail application.
