West Northamptonshire Council have been approached for a comment.

The Highways Code specifies that to prevent your car protruding too far into a road and creating a hazard for other road users, it is actually a legal requirement to park your vehicle no more than 50cm away from the pavement.

The Highway Code states: “You must not leave your vehicle or trailer in a dangerous position or where it causes any unnecessary obstruction of the road.”

This can apply to vehicles that aren’t parked closely enough to the kerb, or within 50cm to be precise
