There are many reasons people abstain from sexual intercourse until marriage, but it’s not often that you hear they are still waiting 123 years later. A Rwandan woman named, Theresia Nyirakajumba, is an exception.

The 123-year-old is still a virgin and she is hoping to find the love of her life and fulfill her desire for intimacy.

In a viral interview with Afrimax English, Nyirakajumba said that she has never been married.

“All my life, I never had a husband. I’m 123-years old, it’s true that I’m a virgin. If I had a husband, maybe I would have had some children.

“I never developed feelings for any man. I didn’t want to engage with men, I had a strong fear of men, and that prevented me from any potential relationship,” she says.

Nyirakajumba said for 123 years she has lived with “an unfulfilled desire, a deviant hope” and a courageous spirit of waiting that one day a man will emerge and embrace her soul.

WHAT MOTIVATED HER DECISION?

Nyirakajumba’s reasons are deeply rooted in her cultural upbringing. She says she comes from a culture where it is considered taboo to interact with boys or be alone with a boy.

“At the moment, you can help me and bring me a man. When I was young, I didn’t want to associate with men and that prevented me from any potential relationship. I never developed love for any man.

“In my culture, girls were not allowed to be alone with a man. This principle was my way of life. I chose to live alone, even when my parents and family requested me to accept a man and marry.”
