Police Called to UK Primary School After Young and Stupid Pupil Found with Knife

Police were called to a primary school in Dumfries after a pupil took a knife into the building.

Dumfries and Galloway Council said staff took action once the alarm was raised and the blade was removed from the youngster’s possession.

They added: “Police Scotland and the relevant authorities were informed and the appropriate action has been taken with the pupil involved.

“Parents, carers and staff were issued with a message to inform them of the incident and provide reassurance that the incident has been handled in an effective and efficient manner.”

Police Scotland confirmed it was alerted around 9.10am.

A force spokesperson added: “Officers spoke with the guardians of the child and police are working with partners in relation to the matter.”

This incident is part of a concerning trend of knife-related occurrences in UK schools. For instance, in November 2024, police responded to an incident at Aviemore Primary School where a young pupil was found brandishing a knife in the playground. No injuries were reported, and staff ensured the safety of all students.

Similarly, in January 2025, a pupil at Tomintoul Primary School in Moray was found in possession of a knife, prompting police intervention. While no one was harmed, the incident raised concerns among parents regarding student safety.
