Scores abducted in Kwara community, two rescued

The Kwara State Police Command on Saturday confirmed the abduction of an unspecified number of people at Eleyinla village near Isanlu-Isin community in the Kwara South senatorial district of the state.

The kidnapping incident occurred at about 5:45 pm on Friday, 25 April 2025, at Eleyin village via Isanlu-Isin.

Recall that it is the third kidnapping incident to occur within a week in that axis, as scores of people were abducted on Thursday along the Ilofa-Omu Aran highway, while seven passengers travelling from Abuja to Offa town were recently abducted in an Olumoh Express transport bus, including the driver, within the Obbo Ayegunle axis in the same Kwara South senatorial district.

A statement by the spokesperson of the command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, in Ilorin on Saturday revealed that, “About five armed men on Friday, blocked the highway stopping two private vehicles, forcefully taking all occupants to an unknown location.

“Following the report, the Command, in collaboration with the military and vigilantes, launched a swift operation, leading to the successful rescue of two victims, Ganiyu Ajayi and Kolawole Adeyemi.

“Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining five victims and apprehend the perpetrators.”

The command has intensified security measures across the area, including aggressive bush combing, strategic patrols, and intelligence-driven operations to prevent further occurrences.

The command further assured the public that robust strategies are in place to tackle criminal activities and safeguard lives and property across the state.

It urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive by providing timely and credible information to security agencies, adding that further updates will be provided as necessary.
