The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of posing the most serious danger to Nigeria’s democratic system, warning that the country risks sliding into a one-party state.
Speaking on Arise Television on Friday, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, claimed the APC was systematically working to cripple opposition parties.

He cited a recent attempt by certain individuals to pressure the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the ADC on what he described as “funny grounds”.
“We know where that is coming from. The individuals involved in that, we know them. We know who they work for,” Abdullahi said, implying direct APC involvement without naming specific persons.
He further alleged that the ruling party had employed similar tactics against other opposition platforms, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

“The APC has done everything to destabilise opposition parties from PDP to Labour Party, SDP, ADC and so on,” he stated.
Abdullahi warned that unless a robust alternative political platform is built, Nigeria is “inevitably heading towards a one-party state”, adding that the current administration appeared determined to entrench such an outcome.
