The presidency on Thursday confirmed the arrest of one Ifechukwu Dennis for allegedly originating the AI generated audio of President Bola Tinubu.

The audio, which was attached to a fake video of a social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as Verydarkman VDM had caused backlash online.

President Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga had shared the AI video, threatening legal action against VDM.

In a post on Facebook on Thursday night, Bayo said the originator of the audio was arrested in Benin City.

He wrote, “The IGP crack team has arrested Ifechukwu Dennis who originated the fake voice that he passed on to his gullible targets as President Tinubu’s voice. Dennis was arrested in Benin. The police will issue an official statement.”
