The Zamfara State Government has inaugurated an eight-member committee to investigate allegations of gross administrative misconduct and insubordination against the suspended Rector of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara, Dr. Sirajo Abdullahi Shinkafi.
The Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Abubakar Mohammed Nakwada, inaugurated the panel on Monday in Gusau.
The committee, chaired by a former Head of Service, Mujtaba Isah, is expected to investigate the allegations and submit its findings to the government.
Speaking during the inauguration, Nakwada urged members of the panel to conduct their assignment with fairness and objectivity.
“Your responsibility is not to presume guilt or innocence, but to establish the facts objectively. You are expected to accord all parties a fair hearing, examine all relevant evidence, and submit recommendations that are impartial, well-reasoned and consistent with the law and principles of good governance,” he said.
He added that the government would rely on the committee’s recommendations to strengthen governance, discipline and accountability in the polytechnic and other state-owned tertiary institutions.
“The government expects the panel to identify any institutional gaps and recommend practical measures that will strengthen governance, discipline, accountability and administrative efficiency within the polytechnic as well as other state-owned tertiary institutions,” the SSG added.
Nakwada also directed all individuals and institutions concerned to cooperate with the committee by providing relevant information required for the investigation.
In his remarks, the chairman of the panel, Mujtaba Isah, assured that members would discharge their responsibilities with fairness and in the best interest of the state.
“We are mindful that this assignment requires experience and moral rectitude, given that it involves the head of a critical institution.
“We will be just, fair and leave no stone unturned in the discharge of this assignment,” he said.
