DJ Chicken, a controversial Nigerian content creator, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos State.

He was remanded on Friday by a Magistrate Court sitting in the Ogba area of Lagos State over an alleged threat to kill President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.

The content creator was arraigned on three counts bordering on alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, breach of the peace, and making threats to kill, following a viral video in which he claimed that Tinubu would not win re-election in 2027.

Following the viral video, DJ Chicken retracted his statement, saying it was a joke intended to gain popularity.

Despite his apology, he was arrested and arraigned.

After pleading not guilty to all the charges, he was, however, granted bail in the sum of ₦1 million, with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a civil servant and the other a community leader with landed property in the state.

The sureties must provide evidence of three years’ tax clearance, utility bills, their National Identification Number (NIN), and Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) registration. One of the sureties must be a blood relation.

While adjourning the case until August 3, 2026, the court ordered that DJ Chicken be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
