Zamfara Govt confirms killing of over 300 terrorists in Gummi

The Zamfara State Government has confirmed that about 300 suspected terrorists were neutralised during a major security operation in Gummi Local Government Area of the state.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information, Mahmud Dantawasa.

According to the statement, the operation, carried out on July 9, 2026, marked a significant breakthrough in the ongoing campaign against terrorism and other violent crimes threatening peace, security and socio-economic activities in Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.

Dantawasa said Governor Dauda Lawal commended the gallantry, professionalism and sacrifices of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies involved in the operation, noting that their efforts had renewed hope among residents.

He said the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through logistics, intelligence sharing and other lawful measures aimed at restoring lasting peace across the state.

The commissioner also assured residents that the state government remained committed to protecting lives and property under the administration’s Rescue Mission Agenda.

He added that the government urged security forces to sustain the ongoing offensive against terrorists and bandits until every part of Zamfara is free from criminal activities.
