Tiffany Haddish had one surprisingly specific concern during her arrest.
The dashcam footage from her January 2022 DUI arrest in Georgia has now circulated. The clip reveals she was more concerned with her mugshot aesthetics than her actual crime.
Tiffany Haddish recently celebrated 3 years of sobriety and transformation. Years earlier, she had also spoken openly about beauty, self-image, and learning to embrace herself.
Haddish appeared more worried about the booking photo once officers told her she would be taken to Fayette County Jail. She reportedly worried that she would look like a “crackhead” in the picture. She also feared looking “busted and dusted” because she had refused to blow into a breathalyzer.
The comedian sat at the back of the police car, where she explained that she was arrested for sleeping while driving. The dashcam footage also captured Haddish joking about smoking weed and telling officers that she was extremely tired.
When she was told she would take a mugshot, she said, “My makeup is run off.” Despite her concern, the eventual mugshot turned out much better than she seemed to expect. The subsequent legal fallout saw the actress striking a major plea deal to completely dodge an active trial and jail time.
According to TMZ, sources confirmed that the star was ultimately sentenced to 12 months of probation, 40 hours of community service, and a mandatory DUI safety course. She was also suspended from driving in Georgia.
The 46-Year-Old’s Simple Beauty Routine
4Haddish has previously admitted that fame completely changed how much effort she puts into her appearance. Before becoming famous, she described her beauty routine as “wash a-s, wash face, moisturize.” She said she rarely wore makeup then, so keeping her skin clear required far less work.
That changed after she began shooting movies and television shows. The comedian said constantly wearing makeup and spending time outside caused her to break out, something she had never experienced before doing extensive film work. After filming “Girls Trip,” she said the heavy makeup and New Orleans heat left her dealing with breakouts for an entire year.
Female First reported in January 2020 that Haddish used Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil to remove makeup from her pores. She also kept her hair clean with apple cider vinegar and made a homemade hair mask using yogurt, coffee grounds, and coconut oil. The entertainer also shared with Allure Magazine that her granny always said: “Any real woman knows how to make herself presentable.”
A Teen Beauty Mistake Changed How Tiffany Haddish Saw Herself
4Haddish’s approach to beauty also grew from a painful experience when she was 15. She got a perm because other girls at school had straight, silky hair. The “Girls Trip” star thought fixing her hair would make it straight, and when she was out of the swimming pool, the boys would like her. Instead, the treatment caused her hair to fall out, leaving her bald.
Looking back, Haddish realized she never needed to change herself to gain approval. She joked that boys would like her regardless, but the experience taught her a lasting lesson about self-acceptance. Her advice to her younger self was simple: “Just be who you are.”
The TV star connected that experience to a broader self-love mantra. She said, “I love and approve of you,” adding that other people’s opinions should not determine whether someone sees themselves as beautiful. In April 2018, Teen Vogue shared that the TV personality knows what beauty looks like for her.
4Haddish revealed on her X post that her decision to stop drinking brought changes beyond her emotional well-being. She said that her elbows stopped aching, her knees stopped burning, and the inflammation she had dealt with disappeared.
The comedian also connected sobriety with removing people she did not want around her and feeling happier. A lot of her fans gave supportive comments.
Her experience led her to challenge other people to try living without alcohol themselves. Haddish suggested that everyone should stay away from drinking for six weeks. and. She believed the experiment would make a lot of relationships and lives better.
The Blast revealed that her decision came after her November 2023 Beverly Hills DUI arrest, which Haddish discussed with Terri Seymour in 2024.
She said she had remained sober since the arrest and declared, “Not drinking any alcohol. Never gonna do that again.” She jokingly added that an engagement could convince her to have one day of drinking, so a future fiancé could see “how crazy” she could be.
Tiffany Haddish’s DUI Case Became Part Of Her Comedy
4Haddish also found a way to joke about the legal trouble that had followed her. In 2024, she marked the anniversary of her Beverly Hills arrest during a Laugh Factory performance, telling the audience she was happy to see them because she was not in jail that night. She even promised she would not be there the following day.
The comedian poked fun that Beverly Hills would at least be a nice place to spend time if someone had to go to jail. When a guest told the audience to check the news, Haddish grabbed the microphone and joked about whether the report was connected to what she had been in the news for the previous year.
After the later arrest, Haddish also told media outlets that she planned to seek professional help with learning balance and boundaries. Her latest sobriety journey has therefore become more than a response to her DUI problems, with Haddish saying the change has helped her establish healthier boundaries, gain clarity and feel more confident about her future.
Even in trouble, Tiffany Haddish still prioritizes herself.
