Newly surfaced court filings have intensified the ongoing legal battle between Rebel Wilson and film producer Amanda Ghost.
Newly released text messages detail a proposed $110,000 campaign involving digital setup services aimed at the producer, introducing fresh scrutiny into the high-profile court dispute.
The actress has been locked in a legal battle with Ghost, with their source of conflict stemming from allegations of sexual harassment and financial misconduct.
4Court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on August 25 reveal text messages produced in discovery between Wilson and crisis publicist Melissa Nathan.
The August 2024 exchange includes a quote Nathan sent for an “untraceable site,” complete with ghost servers, hosting, a full build, and a three-month algorithmic push across platforms.
When Nathan outlined the proposal, Wilson seemingly mistook the figure for $110, prompting Nathan to clarify, writing, “110,000. Sorry! Huge difference.”
During a deposition last month, Wilson stated she was unfamiliar with what an “untraceable site” entailed and could not recall sending or receiving the text exchange. However, she eventually conceded it was possible she did, according to People Magazine.
Addressing the court filings, Wilson’s attorney Allyson Thompson characterized the motion as incomplete.
“Today’s motion filed by Amanda Ghost is, by its very nature, one-sided and thus incomplete, Wilson’s legal representation stated.
While the filings outline the $110,000 quote, the documents do not verify that payment was made. Notably, Ghost’s legal team is currently pursuing payment records and invoices from Nathan’s PR firm, The Agency Group, to clarify whether funds exchanged hands.

In late July, she achieved a decisive legal victory after the Federal Court of Australia dismissed a defamation lawsuit brought against her by actress Charlotte MacInnes, who starred in Wilson’s directorial debut, “The Deb.”
The case centered on social media posts where Wilson suggested MacInnes had recanted a sexual harassment complaint against co-producer Ghost for career advancement. MacInnes denied making or withdrawing such a complaint.
Instead, she maintained that she was not uncomfortable during a September 2023 incident in which she and Ghost shared a bath in swimwear after a medical emergency, per The Blast.
Following extensive testimony, Justice Elizabeth Raper dismissed the suit, concluding MacInnes failed to meet the legal standard for defamation. She then ordered MacInnes to cover Wilson’s legal fees, handing the actress a major courtroom win.

While Justice Raper dismissed the primary defamation claims due to insufficient proof of serious harm, the proceedings also heavily scrutinized Wilson’s credibility. Opposing counsel characterized the filmmaker as a “fantastical liar,” while the judge’s written assessment noted instances of unreliability, per The Blast.

A California appellate court upheld a lower court ruling denying Wilson’s motion to dismiss the defamation action filed by producers Ghost, Vince Holden, and Gregor Cameron. The actress initially sought to throw out the lawsuit under free speech protections.
Following the ruling, Wilson must prove in court that her public allegations against the production team were accurate and made without malice.
