Coco Gauff recently slammed a user impersonating her on X, formerly known as Twitter, just days after losing the US Open. Hours later, Gauff, 22, issued another warning to her followers, urging them to watch for potential scams.
This isn’t the first time this year that Coco Gauff has made headlines. Earlier this summer, she and her mom caught the attention of many when her mom posted online, slamming family and friends for asking for free tickets to see the tennis star play.
On September 13, Gauff responded to an X account, @CocoGauff448, who posted a picture of the tennis star smiling on the court. “Fake account, stop pretending to be,” Gauff wrote. “Mad weird.” The interaction garnered 194,000 views, over 6,000 likes, and close to 500 reposts.
A day later, Gauff returned to her X account and revealed that the user above had actually blocked her. “Report this account, lol,” she captioned a screenshot. “Impersonating me, then blocking me from engaging with you. Lol weird. @CocoGauff448 delete your account and stop scamming people.”
Thankfully for Gauff, the account was later suspended for violating X’s terms and conditions.

Gauff also used the moment to warn her followers about another scam that some of her most loyal fans have almost fallen victim to.
“And while we are here, I will never ask people to send me money,” she wrote. “I have been told there are a lot of accounts scamming people, pretending to be me.”
She added, “I am not on Telegram or would not communicate with people on WhatsApp. Please DO NOT send money to ‘me,’ because I promise it’s not me.”

Gauff’s posts came days after the beloved athlete lost the US Open to Elena Rybakina in the semifinal round.
She spoke with the media after the game and admitted she felt hurt by the result. “I mean, right now it sucks,” she said. “My dad came up and said, ‘You have accomplished so many things this summer,’ and I just said, ‘I don’t care about the summer.’ Right now that is where my head is at.”
Gauff said she’ll use the loss to keep growing, adding that she wants to become a “consistent player.”
“And I want to give myself as many opportunities as I can to lift the trophy,” she shared. “It’s a learning experience, and I hope to keep putting myself in positions to hopefully win.”
Gauff Said She Made Changes To Her Game Before The Tournament

Speaking with PEOPLE before the tournament, Gauff said she spent most of the summer working on her mechanics, noting that in 2025, she was in an awkward spot with her game.
“I changed my serve, decided to change my serve almost a year ago coming up, and I wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be right off the bat, but I’m really happy that I was able to make that change with my serve and be able to, I don’t know, just be happy and normal on the court instead of stressing about something like I was last year,” she shared.
Coco Gauff’s Mother Made Headlines For Slamming Friends And Family
According to a previous report from The Blast, Gauff’s mother, Candi, received support in August 2026 after she made a fiery post telling people to stop asking her for free tickets to see Gauff play.
“Dear Family and friends, I apologize in advance for this blunt, but necessary statement,” she captioned a post. I know you are very excited about Coco playing in the US Open. Me too!!! Coco’s guest ticket request have already been accounted for.”
Candi went on to say that times have changed, and Gauff has her “own friends” that she’s providing tickets to.
Gauff also spoke publicly about her mom’s post and said it was a harsh but necessary statement, noting that people she hasn’t spoken to in years “come out of the woodwork” with requests.
