Leaders of Nigeria’s opposition parties have said plans are underway to operationalise a national coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
Salihu Lukman disclosed this in a statement on Thursday on behalf of the coalition under G100.
According to him, the proposed national coalition will guarantee equal opportunities and mutual respect among the participating parties.
He said the opposition coalition would meet on September 23, 2026, to finalise its decision on a consensus presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 election.

“The Central Leadership Committee also resolved to expand the coalition to accommodate other forward-thinking opposition parties that have expressed an interest in joining this national endeavour.
“The Committee will reconvene on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and has committed to meeting regularly in order to achieve the objective of uniting opposition parties in the country and presenting a united front in the 2027 elections,” he stated.
DAILY POST reports that the coalition includes the African Democratic Congress, Social Democratic Party, a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party and other opposition parties in Nigeria.
