Popular Nigerian pastor and relationship coach, Kingsley Okonkwo, has opined that there is no biblical scripture that expressly forbids Christians from having tattoos.

This comes after a video trended showing him getting a tattoo drawn on his hand.

Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo addresses critics

Speaking during a recent interview, the clergyman argued that many beliefs around tattoos are based on personal convictions, church doctrines, or individual interpretations rather than clear biblical instruction.

He cautioned against imposing personal or denominational preferences on others under the guise of spirituality.

According to Pastor Okonkwo, Christians should be guided by their personal walk with Christ and understanding of God’s word, rather than public opinion or religious pressure.

Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo calls for proof

He challenged critics to provide both scriptural and scientific evidence proving that tattoos are inherently wrong or spiritually harmful.

He further noted that while many people are quick to condemn tattoos, few can clearly explain why they are considered sinful, stressing that shouting religious sentiments without clarity does not align with proper Christian teaching.

He said in part …

“There’s no scripture that says a child of God cannot have tattoo. So people are doing personal preference of what the holy spirit told them or what their church policy is and he they want to impose it on other people and this isn’t how these things work. So everybody need to know Christ to walk the word of God. Somebody needs to sit me down and spell it out that tattoos are bad because if someone draws an ink on their body, their brain goes back or that their attitude change. And they must give me scriptural and scientific proof to back this up. But nobody, everybody is just shouting. But nobody can tell me why tattoos are bad…”
