Benue State governor, Hyacinth Alia has commended workers in the state and across the country for their roles in the ongoing transformation of the state, assuring that his administration will continue to prioritise their welfare for better performance.

Governor Alia, who gave the commendation yesterday in a message to mark the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, described this year’s May Day as an opportunity to celebrate Benue workers and highlight their importance in his administration’s efforts to transform the state and positively impact the lives of the people.

The governor’s message, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, praised the state workforce for their immense contributions, which he said had driven transformation across key sectors.

He described workers as important stakeholders in the implementation of his administration’s seven-point development plan, SACHIIP, which stands for Security of Lives and Property; Agriculture and Rural Development; Commerce and Industry; Human Capital and Social Development; Infrastructure and Environment; Information and Communications Technology; and Political and Economic Governance.

Governor Alia maintained that workers welfare is a necessity for improved performance and assured that his administration will continue to accord the welfare of workers in the state a major priority and implement friendly policies that will enhance their welfare and boost their capacity.

He also commended labour unions in Benue for their cooperation and support, which he said had enhanced workers productivity and wished them a memorable celebration.
