22-year-old footballer Luca Mexiner found dead in his bed a few days after Christmas

Popular footballer Luca Mexiner has tragically been found dead just two days after Christmas, leaving the sports world and his fans in mourning.

According to reports, the 22-year-old was discovered lifeless in his bed during the festive period, though the exact cause of death remains unclear.

Announcing his death news and mourning him, German football club, SSV Reutlingen wrote: “Last weekend we received the terrible news that our player Luca Meixner died unexpectedly on Friday, December 27th at the age of 22,’ the statement began.

“The entire SSV family is deeply saddened and stunned. His teammates, all committees and employees mourn with Luca’s bereaved family and our thoughts are with his family, friends, and companions.

‘We ask that the privacy of Luca’s family be respected during this difficult time.’

Before his tragic passing, Luca Mexiner began his football career with SSV’s youth teams, showcasing immense talent and determination.

He broke into the under-17 ranks in 2017, marking the beginning of his journey. Four years later, he made his senior debut and went on to become a key player for the team, making 100 appearances and scoring six goals.
