A Nigerian woman has set tongues wagging on social media after she was spotted making huge offerings reportedly worth millions of naira in an attempt to appease water gods.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @General Somto, the woman was seen at a riverside with several expensive items believed to be part of the offerings.

The items, said to be worth millions, included packs of soft drinks, a gas cooker, cartons of Indomie noodles, a standing fan, and other household items.

The unusual display quickly drew the attention of residents and passersby in the area.

In the footage, the woman was seen praying over the items before throwing them one after the other into the river.

The incident sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users expressing shock at the scale of the offerings, while others defended her actions as a matter of personal belief and cultural practice.

Reacting to the video, one user wrote, “Is this not too much for the gods to consume?” Another commented, “This is a full supermarket right there. I’m speechless.”

The video continues to generate debate online, with Nigerians divided over the extent people go to in seeking spiritual intervention.
