A former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Sam Amadi, has suggested that supporters of President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar are effectively united against Peter Obi.
Amadi made the remark via X on Saturday, arguing that both All Progressives Congress and Atiku’s ADC share common political interests and should consider forming a coalition.
According to him, such an alliance could reshape Nigeria’s political landscape into a clearer two-party system, pitching a Tinubu-Atiku bloc against a potential partnership between Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
“Reading comments and posts on this platform it will be fair to argue that APC and ADC (at least, Atiku fan-base) have much in common and should form one party or coalition against @PeterObi and @KwankwasoRM
“Atiku supporters and Tinubu supporters are together in one fight against Peter Obi. Why can they not come together as one team and be in one party because they share common love, logic and hatred?
“We can then have a coherent two-party system. Tinubu-Atiku vs. Obi-Kwankwanso.
“That will give Nigerians a real choice,” Amadi wrote.
Amadi’s remarks come amid reports that Obi and Kwankwaso are planning to exit the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
Spokesman of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Habibu Mohammed, was quoted as saying Obi could finalize his move to the NDC within days, following what he described as a unanimous endorsement by key stakeholders.
